We would like to inform, that we attended the Joint Congress of the South African thoracic Society and the South African Society of Sleep Medicine in Johannesburg on August 18th -21st, 2016.

Grena supported the Congress

The 2016 congress theme was “Inspire, Breathe, Sleep” and focused on adult respiratory medicine, paediatric pulmonology, the cardiothoracic tract and chronic respiratory conditions.

Grena supported the event and provided material for the VATS training wetlab.

Medical School Tour

Following the Congress we accompanied Dr Diego Gonzalez Rivas and travelled to three Academic Hospitals in South Africa.
From August 24th - 26th, 2016 we visited the Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital, the Steve Biko Hospital at the Pretoria Medical School and the Charlotte Maxeke Hospital at the Wits Medical School.

Dr Gonzalez Rivas gave short lectures and performed live surgeries in each of the hospitals. Grena provided material during all live surgeries.

Most cases were really complicated and difficult. It was an honour to watch Dr Diego work and find solutions in seemingly unsolvable situations, proving the unlimited possibilities of Uniportal VATS once again.

1st official Uniportal VATS live surgery in Namibia

During the days between the Congress and the Medical School Tour in South Africa we visited the main hospital in Windhoek, Namibia. Dr Diego Gonzalez Rivas gave a short lecture about the Uniportal VATS procedure and performed the first Uniportal VATS surgery in Namibia.
Grena provided all materials needed for this surgery.
