The Workshop focused on surgical techniques for the therapeutic approach of urological cancers. Improving expertise in surgical practice is one of our main concerns and also the end point of our learning process. Every practical surgical aspect has to be approached and updated – from the most basic to the most controversial.
The Workshop objectives were mainly focused on identification and management of intra-, peri-, and post-operative complications in each of the techniques.
Day one was spent on introduction and lectures such as: "Limits of laparoscopy in renal cancer" by Dr. J. Palou, "Technical aspects of partial nephrectomy" by Dr. A. Breda and „Laparoscopic nephroureterectomy: YES or NO” by Dr. J.M. Gaya
Day two was fully devoted to practical aspect of surgery:
1. Laparoscopic radical nephrectomy
2. Laparoscopic nephroureterectomy
3. Retroperitoneal partial nephrectomy
4. Transperitoneal partial nephrectomy
The participants were thrilled to share the experience with the lecturers and other members of the Workshop. The acquired knowledge will certainly be useful in the future when performing difficult operations, where every decision may prove important.
