We are coming back to you with information about 2016's Uniportal VATS Training in Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital. The first out of 6 (!) Trainings planned for this year was successfully ended on January 23rd, 2016. 

The training programme was lead by Dr. Diego Gonzalez Rivas, Thoracic surgeon and creator of the uniportal VATS surgery procedure.

We welcomed participants from many countries all around the world, among them from India, Saudi Arabia, Portugal, Spain, Poland and many more.

During this edition the planned lectures were really interesting. Among others, the lectures presented by Dr Moreno Mata Nicolas from Spain, Dr Angelo Lucas Nobre from Portugal, Dr Ivan Schewitz from South Africa and Dr Alan Sihoe Hong Kong were especially interesting and presented a great value to the participants. The idea of the Uniportal VATS Training is to present surgeons from all around the world an opportunity to learn the newest surgery approaches in the Thoracoscopic Department of the biggest Pulmonary Hospital in China.

The objective of this training course is to offer ongoing Education to further develop Advanced Thoracic Surgeons in acquiring confidence in the uniportal VATS Technique. The agenda includes theoretical sessions and a large number of live cases to be observed every day. Participants are able to see among 20-30 VATS lobectomies every day into the OR (12 operation rooms). Dr Diego Gonzalez Rivas will be performing 4-5 uniportal VATS major resections per day.

The next VATS Uniportal Training in Shanghai will take place in April and is already fully boooked!
